Features To Look Out For In Apple Inc. Upcoming iOS 9
Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS 9 is within sight of being released. With this in mind, we thought it worth looking over the features and fixtures that, it is claimed, will take the iPhone and iPad to a new level. The company has been quietly releasing builds to developers and members of the Apple Beta Program. It’s believed the operating system will be released alongside the rumored iPhone 6S next month.
Dedicated picture folders will make their appearance in iOS 9, including a selfie folder to store all the shots taken with the front facing camera. Screenshots will also be sent to a separate folder instead of placed in the general camera roll.
Apple News
Apple’s Newsstand didn’t get much attention from Apple’s users. Now the plan appears to be to replace it a Flipboard-like app. Users can choose the topics that interest them and receive ‘curated’ articles that match their interests.
More Security
The four-digit passcode will become the six-digit passcode, for tighter security. That is to be supplemented by a new two-step authorization process. This requires a user to authorize the Apple ID on a primary device before it is used on a secondary one.
Revamped Notes App
Notes will get a revamp for the new OS, being allowed to doodle instead of only typing. The new version has bullet points and tick-off checklists.
Improved Apple Maps
Apple has done a bit of work on the Maps feature. Major US cities (and some abroad) will get transit directions. Plus, subway routes, bus schedules, trains and even delay notifications.
Split-Screen Multi-Tasking
A welcome addition is split-screen multi-tasking. This brings the iPhone into contact with Android. Apple users will now know how it feels to do two things at the same time on their phone. And see it on the same screen. The split-screen wil allow users to switch between, and open, different apps more easily.
Power Saving Mode
Never less than crucial, iOS 9 will give an extra one whole hour of battery life. Additionally, increase battery life to up to 3 hours when switched on.
