Why streaming Microsoft Xbox One Games To Windows 10 PC’s Is Pointless
Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) has recently allowed users to locally stream their Xbox One onto their Windows 10 PCs or tablets. It could be a useful feature for those who cannot sit at one place and play.
Anyone who owns a console would definitely have a TV in his or her house. Thus, that goes without saying that why would anyone want to play on a small screen when they have an option to play on a bigger one. In addition, adjusting the volume and toggling other options with a remote on a TV is easier than manually doing it from a Windows 10 PC or tablet.
Another reason why it’s ineffectual, is because you can’t stream movies or play music if you stream your Xbox to any Windows 10 device and there’s no way you can stream on a PC if it doesn’t have Windows 10 installed in it. You are also required to be on the same Wi-Fi or wired to the same network for fast operations.
Users will be able to play their games with an Xbox controller if they are playing it on their PC, but essentially remain a secondary display at best. Users cannot directly play the game without an Xbox running side-by side, making the exercise a futile waste of time.
Currently, you can only stream from an Xbox One to a PC and not the other way around. However, Microsoft is working to support functionality for this feature as requested by the fans. Xbox’s boss Phil Spencer said during a group interview at Microsoft's headquarters today: "People ask about the streaming in the opposite direction...can I stream from my PC to my Xbox?... and I'll just say it's something that we're really looking at.”
Some people might even argue that this new feature by Microsoft is not new in the gaming industry after all because it has been a while since Sony Corp. (NYSE:SNE) launched Remote Play.
Remote Play is a feature, which lets gamers stream PS3 and PS4 games to its Xperia mobile devices. Therefore, it is safe to say that people are over-hyped about Microsoft implanting this feature. This is something, which Sony took care of long ago. We are not saying that it is a bad move by Microsoft. It is actually great news for the fans but there is no reason to be excited over this new feature, especially if people are accustomed with it.
