'Halo 5: Guardians': 'Mind Blowing' Gamescom 2015 News Teased, 343 Trolls The Game's Ending

"Halo 5: Guardians" didn't wow the crowd at E3 2015, but that may change during Gamescom next week. In addition to a huge showing, 343 Industries recently detailed the title's squad-based cop-op mode. "Halo 5: Guardians" releases on Oct. 27 exclusively for Xbox One.

"Halo 5: Guardians" is gearing up for a huge showing at Gamescom 2015, and the announcements are said to be "mind blowing." In relation to that news, a 343 Industries director trolled the ending of the game to one unlucky fan.

The news comes to Design & Trend via the Twitter accounts of "Halo" champion Snip3down and 343 Industries director Brad Welch. While both statements tease excitement rather than concrete info, there's no harm in keeping the "Halo 5: Guardians" hype train going.

In that regard, the next major event to look forward to is Microsoft's Gamescom 2015 press conference on Aug. 4. While we don't know exactly what will be shown during the presentation, emphasis on "Halo 5" is a near certainty. Yesterday, Snip3down said "I can't wait for the entire console world's minds to be blown away with the 'Halo' announcements at Gamescom. I'm still reattaching mine."

While Snip3down's perspective is much closer to that of a fan than a 343 Industries coder, it's worth noting that the developer is often in communication with this talented franchise veteran to inform him of the latest news. In that sense, there's a high probability that an inside source has passed on a few cool details ahead of time.

This major Gamescom presence will likely be seen as good news to those that weren't satisfied by the game's E3 2015 efforts. Despite the reveal of War Zone PvP and a few small campaign tidbits, much of the exclusive material wasn't powerful enough to steal the show from juggernauts like "Star Wars Battlefront" or "Cuphead." That being said, there's indication that "Halo" fans may finally get the details they've been waiting for. Will we finally see what it's like to play as Master Chief?

Delving further into the realm of speculation is a recent joke made by 343 Industries' Brad Welch. When asked by a fan about the ending of "Halo 5: Guardians," the company employee said "we were just doing a review of the ending of 'Halo 5' yesterday. What happens is that [REDACTED] and then The End! Or is it?" The tweet is an obvious troll of course, but it might hint that the upcoming title will end on a cliffhanger. Although, open-ended conclusions have been a standard of the "Halo" universe for quite some time.

As far as confirmed details are concerned, the famed Halo Waypoint blog recently posted a major blowout on the game's co-op mode and tactical features. For the first time in the series, co-op play will be far more than an afterthought. In fact, it will have an entirely separate save file from the single player campaign. Once co-op is initiated, groups of friends can join as one of Master Chief or Locke's squad members. It's also possible to leave a co-op mission instantly, and the AI will take over.

Another positive addition is being able to use player-controlled or AI squads in fresh ways. Orders can be barked to perform essential tasks for improved team coordination. "Halo 5: Guardians" will still be a lone-gunner experience for those that want it, but team play adds a new wrinkle to the formula.

"Halo 5: Guardians" releases on Oct. 27 exclusively for Xbox One.
