ZombiU Re-Release Confirmed For PS4, Xbox One, PC
An upgraded port of ZombiU, the acclaimed survival horror game that shipped along with the launch of theWii U in 2012, will be released for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One on August 18.
In a statement sent to GameSpot, Ubisoft said the title will be renamed Zombi, likely due to the 'U' being associated with the Wii U. When first revealed at E3 2011, ZombiU was revealed as an exclusive Wii U title.
The console and PC editions will be available digitally--Ubisoft has not announced plans for a boxed version of the port.
Zombi casts players as a human attempting to survive in zombie-infested London: "For the second time in history, a great plague has shrouded the city in a fog of death and thousands have died, or worse, been infected by a sickness more gruesome than death.
Once again, this fear-fueled first-person shooter invites all players to dive into the horror, chaos and tension found in the best of the genre. The nail-biting survival experience has been optimized for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC, using the power of the latest generation of hardware to bring gamers to a new level of horror."
In GameSpot's ZombiU review we awarded the game 4.5, describing it as a "game trapped in the wrong genre."
"The run-and-gun multiplayer modes emphasize the game's competent shooting mechanics and ability to create interesting enemy encounters. However, these two aspects are discouraged in the single-player campaign for the sake of survival," said our reviewer.
"To compensate, there's the bare minimum of a story and a few simple puzzles. And so much cricket bat. ZombiU could have been an enjoyable action game, but instead it is a poor entry in the survival horror genre."
Ubisoft has released a few screenshots for the game, which you can take a look at below.
