New Hitman Screens Revealed As IO Interactive Insist It Is Not Early Access
Hitman 6
Make no bones about it, when the Hitman reboot lands later this year, it will be anything but a complete game. IO Interactive has been very up front about this, even reassuring fans that there will be no paid DLC whatsoever - you pay once and you’re in for the ride.
This has brought some inevitable comparisons with Steam’s Early Access service, which allows developers to push their games out early in pre-release form. They’re typically buggy and incomplete, but it’s an opportunity for eager fans to get their feet in the door early. When Hitman launches on Steam later this year, it won’t be classed as Early Access, and IO Interactive insist it shouldn’t be considered as such.
“When people hear Early Access they often think unfinished, unpolished and buggy. That’s the opposite to what we’re doing,” said IO head honcho Hannes Seifert. IO Interactive will be revealing the full extent of the launch content very soon, but it promises there will be a “sizeable chunk” of content on day one.
Through 2016 there will then be consistent, and free, updates, adding new story missions, live events, weapons and contracts. “There is nothing hidden away you could even spend extra money on. That is very important to us,” explained Seifert during an interview at Gamescom.
Early Access release or prolonged post-launch support, it’s up for debate, but in the meantime feast your eyes on a bunch of new Hitman screens.
Hitman is available to download on 8th December for PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox one, with a retail version arriving in 2016.
