Apple iOS 8.4.1 Arrives With Several Apple Music Fixes
Today Apple has released iOS 8.4.1, which is a minor update that contains several Apple Music fixes and improvements. Apple Music was first introduced in iOS 8.4 on June 8 at the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC). Apple Music is a music service that includes on demand streaming, a global radio station called Beats 1 and a social network for artists called Connect.
What are some of the fixes in iOS 8.4.1? An issue that prevents iCloud Music Library from turning on has been fixed. An issue that causes music to be hidden because Apple Music was set to show offline music only has been fixed. There is now a way to add songs to a new playlist if there aren’t any playlists to choose from. An issue that causes different artwork for an album to appear on other devices has been fixed. An issue where artists were unable to post to Connect has been fixed. And an issue where tapping on the “Love” button does not work as expected while listening to the Beats 1 radio station has been fixed.
iOS 8.4.1 might be the only iOS 8.4 update that arrives before iOS 9 is announced in September along with the new line of iPhones. Apple iOS 9 was announced at the same event as Apple Music. iOS 9 does not have as many new features as there were in iOS 7 or iOS 8, but it will facilitate battery life improvements and emphasize on under-the-hood optimizations. iOS 9 is currently available for beta testers.
iOS 8.4.1 can be downloaded over-the-air by opening Settings > General > Software Update. The size of the update is between 55MB and 58MB.
iTunes 12.2.2
iTunes 12.2.2 was also released today with several Apple Music related improvements. Now when you click on the Beats 1 banner on iTunes, you can see what is currently on or view the complete broadcast schedule. iTunes now shows you a list of the artists that you are following on Apple Music. An issue that caused iTunes to lose its place when hitting a previous page has been fixed. Apple fixed a problem where artists were being incorrectly sorted in “My Music.” A problem where playlists were displayed in the action menu did not match the playlists in your library has been fixed. And now artists can share content like photos, music and videos to Connect from iTunes directly. The iTunes update can be downloaded through the Updates section of the Mac App Store.
