Leaked images hint Apple’s upcoming iPhone 6s could incorporate Force Touch technology
Leaked images of Apple Inc.’s (NASDAQ:AAPL) upcoming iPhone 6s have appeared on theInternet. These images showcase both sides of the display unit reportedly being manufactured for Apple’s latest iteration. While the images point out that the company will not change the external design of iPhone 6s, some features indicate that the new Force Touch technology might well be on its way. These leaks have been posted on a Weibo page of Chinese repair firm, Geek Bar.
Other leaked images show the rumored iPhone 6s to be in mass production. The images also showcase the home button and camera units that are to be incorporated, and unified flex cable, as opposed to the disjointed one embedded in the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Reports revealed earlier that the company has ordered suppliers to supply over 90 million units of the new iPhone before the end of 2015, indicating that the new phone aims to do even better than its predecessor in terms of unit sales.
The images show that the display is thicker than that for the iPhone 6, while other changes include a rectangular cutout near the top end of the screen, through which an unknown component appears to be protruding out. Speculation indicates that this is likely to be a grounding insert. Apple seems to be shifting away from the use of clips and screws for the metal shield on the back of its display unit; the recent images show the incorporation of rivets on all four corners.
With Force Touch technology seemingly on the cards for the iPhone 6s, these changes make its inclusion even more likely. Force Touch technology will revolutionize user experience, as different functions will be initiated based on the intensity of one tap on the screen. This technology has already been introduced into the market via the Apple Watch.
Other upgrades to be included in the iPhone 6s revolve around a 12MP iSight technology supporting rear camera and Series 7000 aluminum in a bid to prevent bend. The device is expected to be unveiled by Apple at a media event rumored to be scheduled for September 11.
