Barely four months after its official launching in April, the Asus ZenFone 2 has breed four new spinoff smartphones which the Taiwanese tech company unveiled during its ZenFestival event held recently in New Delhi, India.
The new Asus ZenFone 2 spin-off smartphones include the ZenFone Selfie, the ZenFone 2 Laser, the ZenFone 2 Deluxe, and the ZenFone Max, cites NDTV Gadgets.
All four smartphones were launched with Android 5.0 Lollipop onboard, come with 4G LTE support and feature dual-micro SIM as well as standby support.
Specifications and key features
The ZenFone Selfie is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor clocking at 1.7GHz and 1GHz with Adreno 405 GPU, and 3GB of RAM.
As its name implies, the smartphone is ideal for taking selfies with its 13-megapixel rear and front cameras featuring f/2.0 aperture, laser autofocus, 28-mm focal length, and dual-color Real Tone flash. It also comes with the Asus Zen UI which packs a few camera improvement tools including low light mode, Selfie panorama mode, backlight mode, enhanced beautification mode, manual mode, and zero shutter lag.
The ZenFone 2 Laser was launched in three further variants – two version of the ZE550KL and one ZE601KL. The ZenFone 2 Laser ZE550KL features a 5.5-inch HD IPS display with 720 x 1280 screen resolution, 16GB of built-in storage that’s expandable up to 128GB via a microSD card slot, a 3000 mAH battery, and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with autofocus and a 5-megapixel front-facing snapper.
The second ZenFone 2 Laser ZE601KL features a 6-inch full HD IPS display with 1080 x 1920 screen resolution and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. It also comes with a 16GB built-in storage expandable up to 128GB through a microSD card, a 3000 mAH battery, and a 13-megapixel camera with laser autofocus and a 5-megapixel front shooter.
The Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe is practically an enhanced version of the ZenFone 2 that was launched in April and differs primarily on the back panel. Just like its base model, it is applicable in 2G, 3G, and 4G bands and can support 4G LTE too, notes the GSM Arena
It has a dimension of 152.5 x 77.2 x 10.9 mm and weighs only 170 grams. It also features dual micro-SIM, dual standby, and dual call. It has a 5.5-inch IPS capacitive touchscreen that features 16 million different colors.
The Asus ZenFone 2 Deluxe is powered by an Intel Atom Z3580 processor clocking at 2.3GHz quad-core, a 4GB of RAM, and a 64GB of built-in storage.
Finally, there is the highlight which is the Asus ZenFone Max, featuring a very generous 5000 mAH battery, which makes it viable to function as a power bank as well. It sports a 5.5-inch HD IPS display, is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor, a 2GB of RAM, an 8GB or 16GB built-in storage, expandable up to 64GB via a micro-SD slot, and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera with laser autofocus, and a five-megapixel front-facing snapper.
Leads in midrange handset category
It’s not as expensive as the flagship smartphones of the big name companies in the market these days including Apple, Samsung, HTC, LG, or Sony, but the Asus ZenFone 2 is currently leading the pack among the more affordable handsets in terms of performance and features.
The Asus ZenFone 2 was recently compared with the Alcatel Idol 3 and the Huawei P8 Lite and the verdict went in favor of the current flagship smartphone of the Taiwanese tech company.
While the three different phones offered different experiences, their common denominator is their performance and experiences that are a lot better than their price tags suggest. They are definitely three Android phones that give their respective users more than their money’s worth.
Motorola used to rule the particular segment of the market with its Moto G and Moto E smartphones not too long ago, but the American tech company’s reign has obviously come to an end.
