Rise of the Tomb Raider, which was finally confirmed for PC a few weeks ago, is a game in which Lara Croft slits people's throats and sometimes double-arrows two guys in their necks at once. She also bludgeons a guy with a bottle of booze and then uses the broken glass to sit his throat. Lara Croft hates necks and wants all necks to die.
This is from the Gamescom footage which was shown today at Microsoft's conference. It's mostly a stealthy camp infiltration, which goes loud near the end with the requisite big explosion. The beginning of the video is more interesting to me—a glimpse at a big world, where we'll hunt for resources and discover tombs to raid.
The rest feels more like Far Cry, which isn't to say it won't be fun—I just never thought of Lara as quite so ruthless an assassin. Even Agent 47 would be like, "Whoa there Lara, we missed like five tombs back there. Please stop slitting throats Lara. That's enough. For the love of God, let the throats be."
Gritty stuff. Update: I didn't have quite the whole video up there earlier. There's a bit of tomb raiding at the end of this one. I'll replace it with an official version when it's up.
