Microsoft Windows 10 To Hit Xiaomi Mi Tablet In Q3 This Year

With Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ:MSFT) hitting new heights with Windows 10, it’s a surprise that a Chinese manufacturer is making its way onto the scene by announcing the launch of a Windows 10 running tablet this quarter. Xiaomi is known for launching tablets running on Google Inc’s (NASDAQ:GOOG) Android operating system, however, recent reports from within the company have revealed that it is working to cram the Windows 10 OS into its upcoming device.

Earlier this year, reports sprung up that Microsoft and Xiaomi were working together toward what many believed were the manufacturers of Windows running smartphones. According to a renown Chinese analyst, Pan Jiutang, Xiaomi will launch its new Mi tablet before year-end, but unlike its predecessor the device will run on a different OS, which many indicate is the recently launched Windows 10.

Xiaomi has not revealed whether the tablet will run on the standard Windows 10 or the Windows 10 Mobile edition, which is yet to be launched all over the globe. To add to these reports, Microsoft’s Vice President of Operating Systems Group recently posted an image on Twitter, showcasing the Xiaomi Mi 4 running on Windows build 10240.

Since reports indicate that the launch is sure to happen this quarter, the device will release in the coming weeks, marking it the first tablet in the market to run on Windows 10. Xiaomi is set to launch its latest MIUI version on August 13 this year.

Recently, Microsoft offered free Windows 10 upgrades to users, regardless of whether they were running genuine copies - this indicates that the tech giant is attempting to penetrate the otherwise heavily-pirated Chinese consumer computing market. Bidness Etc will be reviewing how the upcoming Xiaomi tablet fares against its competitors and whether the decision to incorporate Windows 10 is really a masterstroke by the Chinese manufacturer.
