Swatch Releases Sistem51; $150 Watch Expected To Rival Apple Watch
When it comes to the smartwatch market, it is clear that the Apple Watch has a huge head start compared to its rivals. However, this does not deter manufacturers from creating their own devices with hopes of ousting the Apple Watch on the throne. Recently, renowned clockmaker Swatch announced that it is entering the fray with its own $150 Sistem51 smartwatch.
While the Apple Watch is still on top of the smartwatch market, recent survey shows that the flagship wearable device from the tech giant is suffering slow market sales. Many industry analysts pointed that the device's extremely high retail price along with some missing feature has caused its sales to dwindle.
Pricing for the Apple Watch starts at $549 and Swatch is capitalizing in this aspect by releasing its flagship smartwatch for only $150. The Apple Watch has a battery life of about 18 hours on single charge and once again the Sistem51 dominates this feature by having a massive 90-hour battery life. The massive battery life of Swatch's device came from the fact that it does not need battery to be powered instead it uses the movements of its user in order to generate power, according to Morning News USA.
Swatch describes the Sistem51 on its official website as, "Conceived, developed and built entirely and exclusively in Switzerland, and in less than two years. It is a luxury, an accessible point of entry to high-end mechanical watchmaking - for everyone."
The Swatch Sistem51 is currently available on Swatch's online store as well as physical stores located all over the world.
