Avatar 2 release date news: Sequel set for December 2017, 3rd and 4th movies coming

"Avatar," the No. 1 box office movie of all time, certainly deserves a sequel. James Cameron changed the history of the movie industry when "Avatar" took the stage. Finally, the long awaited sequel is set to be released on December 2017.

"Avatar 2's" filming took place in New Zealand where other movies such as Hobbit and Lord of the rings were also filmed.

James Cameron also revealed that Pandora, which was a planet introduced in the first film, will also be seen in the film. He revealed that there will be new creatures and new sceneries in Pandora. This will surely make the adventure more exciting for every Avatar fan.

Sam Worthington, Zoe Sakdana and Stephen Lang are expected to appear in the film. It has been rumored that Arnold Schwarzenegger will participate as well.

Although some suspected that all scenes will be underwater, Producer Jon Landau said, " It's not going to be all underwater; it's going to be a place where we go to , leave and come back to."

According to Cameron, they found their inspiration in Micronesia's community and culture. Since Jake is no longer an Avatar at the end of the original film , they will have to change the film's name as well. There was also a confirmation that the film will be presented back to back.

Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldana's fans will surely be happy to hear that they signed a trilogy contract. Stephen Lang will also return in not just one but three more films.Claiming that this film is a science fiction and anything can happen, it is possible that Dr. Grace Augustine, played by Sigourney Weaver, will come back.

The 20th Century Fox film is also set to release the third installment of "Avatar 3" on December 2018. It can possibly be the last installment of the Avatar series but Cameron said that "Avatar 4" is not entirely impossible as well.
