Razer's gamepad news, price details: Gamer's aid sells for $80 in Google store

Ever experienced playing an Android game and thought that, "this definitely needs a gamepad?" Well, Razer has come up with an answer in the Razer Serval gamepad.

According to this Digital Trends article, the Serval is one gamepad that's built for gamers by a company that knows games. While Razer is known for gaming keyboards and mice, it's relatively new in the equally fresh world of Android gaming. Arriving along with the Forge TV system is the Razer Serval.

The gamepad will look familiar to those who've held an Xbox One gamepad, according to the article. It can connect via USB or Bluetooth 3.0, making it perfect for mobile phone gaming. It also runs on AA batteries, but the good thing about that is there's no hassle about charging it every now and then. However, AA batteries should be kept handily nearby.

Devices running Android 4.2, or Kitkat, won't have trouble using Razer's Serval gamepad. It is sold in Razer and Google stores.

In this news item from Tech Times, Razer's acquisition of Ouya has encompassed all—app store, name, and software included. Now, Razer could use the gamepad from Ouya to create a gamepad quite like the Serval. Razer has already begun with the acquisition, in fact, renaming the app store into Cortex.

Ouya's legacy has been creating the first open platform for television, says Julie Uhrman, Ouya's now-former CEO. With this acquisition, however, Ouya' staff of half a dozen employees will migrate over to Razer. Razer's Min-Liang Tan, however, has only good words and ideas for Ouya and plans to open all Ouya games to Google Play and amp up the company.

"Ouya's work with game developers, both triple A and indies, went a long way in bringing Android games to the living room," says Tan. Razer's Forge TV will continue to support Ouya console users and will offer incentives for the said users to migrate over to Razer's service.
