'Resident Evil 2' remake features update: A re-release looms on the horizon

With the arrival of new technology, lately it has all been about improving on what has already been built. Such is the case with "Resident Evil 2," which has been re-tooled and the option of releasing it again in HD is being explored.

In fact, a fan-made "Resident Evil 2" is already available. According to this Digital Trends article, a fan managed to re-make "Resident Evil 2" with Unreal Engine 4 packaging. This is courtesy of InvaderGames, an indie studio.

The working title for the game becomes "Resident Evil 2: Reborn." It will feature improvements like turning the cinematic horror game into a third-person shooter, giving the protagonist over-the-shoulder aiming, and other improvements to game play. There are also elements from the health system, soundtrack, and character dialog, which has also been refined.

Perhaps one of the best improvements the indie studio has made are the lighting effects, which now hides the ravenous undead behind an ominous veil of darkness. Flashlights have never been as needed in the game before as now, which players must use if they want to survive.

Capcom, according to the article, isn't shying away from upgrading some of their titles. "Resident Evil" has found a way to resurface every so often, with versions coming to the Nintendo GameCube, the PlayStation 4, and the Xbox One. "Resident Evil Zero" is notable for being next in line to be upgraded.

This news from Digital Spy reveals that Capcom is conducting a survey among players of their zombie-infested game.

The article reported Capcom is conducting a survey among fans to see what they think of this remake. They offered their sincerest gratitude for the support for the "Resident Evil" brand through the years, and proceeded to ask for an "honest and frank" opinion from the fans.

The response was tremendous. Fans came back with suggestions and requests, ranging from additional areas and next-gen visuals to game play suited for the modern times.
