'The Flash' season 2 plot spoilers, cast update: Barry's new villain and new potential love interest

How does Barry Allen save Central City from the destructive tornado that appeared in the season one finale? That is definitely a burning question that will be answered when the new season starts. Aside from that, what else can fans expect in the upcoming season?

The new season will feature some new characters including Jay Garrick, a retired vigilante, who was the original Flash in the comics. Joining him is Patty Spivot, who will be working with Detective Joe West due to her passion for metahumans. She will also become a potential new love interest for Barry. Then, there is also a new villain named Zoom who is even deadlier than the Reverse Flash.

Season two will explore the multiverse as well as Barry's growth as the world's greatest superhero. Barry will develop new powers as the season progresses and he will also have a new costume with the signature white emblem that fans know and love in the comics.

Speaking of the comics, word on the street says that Cisco Ramon will most likely become the superhero Vibe this season. It can be noted that last season, fans saw a few changes in Cisco when he somehow retained memories from an alternate timeline. These changes could be a sign of Cisco's impending change and that will be very exciting to see.

Danielle Panabaker, who plays Caitlin Snow, teased fans about a future twist in the upcoming season. Panabaker said that "my character will eventually go down a dark path." Could this mean that her character will become the villain Killer Frost as seen in weird past-present-and-future that Barry saw in the season one finale? The actress said in an interview that she can't wait to become the super-villain. However, she isn't sure if that will happen this coming season or not. Fans will just have to wait and see.

The Atom Smasher, a villain from the comic books will also appear this coming season and the character will be played by Adam Copeland. Wentworth Miller who plays Leonard Snart will be back next season.

"The Flash" season 2 will premiere on October 6 at 8 pm on The CW.
