'NCIS' season 13 premiere date, spoilers: Upcoming season explores hunt for terrorist group The Calling

The "NCIS" season 12 finale ended with yet another cliff hanger ending. Fans witnessed the young Luke Harris shoot Agent Gibbs in Cairo. Does Agent Gibbs survive the attack? It's expected that the first episode titled "Stop the Bleeding" will pick up where they left off and answer that question right away.

Luke Harris is a teenage kid that Gibbs was trying to help, but he turns out to be a member of the terrorist organization called The Calling. It is the group behind the bombing in Egypt that killed the NCIS agent Ned Dorneget.

Mark Harmon, who plays Agent Gibbs, is set to return to the show as he has signed a new contract for the series. However, in light of the events that occurred during the season 12 finale, Michael Weatherly, who plays Tony Dinozzo, will be taking a bigger leadership role in season 13 while Gibbs recovers from his injuries. Tony will be seen leading the MCRT.

Veteran actor Muse Watson is also set to return to "NCIS" this season as Mike Franks. However, it would be interesting to see how the producers actually plan to bring back his deceased character. Many fans believe that Watson's character will come back through flashbacks while Gibbs fights for his life.

Tony along with Joanna Teagen, the mother of agent Dorneget, will be heading the task force that would stop the terrorist organization. They were last seen in Cairo looking for Agent Gibbs and Luke Harris.

The Calling and the events in Cairo will be the main focal point of the upcoming season.

"NCIS" will return on September 22, 2015.
