There'll Be a New Battlefield Game in 2016

EA has confirmed that there'll be a new Battlefield game launching in 2016, following Battlefield Hardline's release in March of this year.

It's not known when next year the game will release, and an official announcement with details on the game aren't forthcoming just yet.

"What we've said is that our intention over the next couple of years is to have a first-person shooter as one of the core titles," said EA CFO Blake Jorgensen during an investor's call earlier today. "This year it's Star Wars: Battlefront. Next year, it's another Battlefield title."

Whether DICE will be assuming dev duties on Battlefield once more following Visceral's work on Hardline is also unknown, but both studios are fairly busy, with Visceral working on a new Star Wars game and DICE busy with Mirror's Edge: Catalyst once Star Wars: Battlefront releases in November.
