Robbie Maddison grew up in a coastal town in Australia doing plenty of surfing. However, he made his name as a dirtbike rider, winning plenty of competitions as a youngster, then became one of the world’s best stunt riders, even subbing in for Daniel Craig in the 2012 James Bond movie, “Skyfall.”
So perhaps it was only a matter of time before Maddison combined his two passions. Or perhaps he’s just a lunatic. Okay, both. Either way, the motocross daredevil’s experiments with adding skis to a bike resulted in quite the awesome amphibious craft.
Maddison took that bike to Tahiti, where he was filmed riding it, in full freestyle motocross gear, over land and into a river. Then it was out into the wide blue ocean, but the showstopper was yet to come — Maddison pointed his bike back toward land and rode it down a few of the Tahitian waves that are so iconic in the surfing community.
